What Is the Functional Fitness Area at FLEXX?

The Functional Fitness area is designed for real-world training. Not just sitting on a machine and counting reps, but moving, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, sprinting, grinding, and occasionally questioning your life choices in the best possible way.

This space includes the kit and layout needed for high-energy, full-body training, including:

  • Indoor turf

  • Sled work

  • Erg machines

  • Strength stations

  • Functional training equipment

  • Conditioning exercises

  • Space for group workouts and coached classes

It’s ideal for anyone who wants to improve strength, stamina, fitness, coordination and overall performance.

You don’t need to be an athlete to use it. You don’t need to be training for a race. You don’t need to know what HYROX is, although if you’ve heard people talking about it and wondered what all the fuss is about, this is a brilliant place to start.

You just need to turn up, give it a go, and be willing to sweat a little.

FLEXX HYBRID is our high-energy HYBRID/HYROX-style class, combining strength, cardio and functional training into one powerful workout.

Expect a mix of:

  • Sled pushes and pulls

  • Erg work

  • Cardio intervals

  • Full-body strength movements

  • Functional exercises

  • Team energy

  • Big effort

  • Even bigger smiles after

FLEXX HYBRID is designed to be challenging, but it’s also designed to be accessible.

That means you don’t need to be super fit before you start. You don’t need experience with functional training. You don’t need to know your 500m row split, your sled push pace, or your “race day strategy”.

You can come in as you are.

The session can be adapted so you can work at your own level, whether you’re:

  • New to fitness classes

  • Returning to training after time away

  • A regular gym-goer wanting more structure

  • Training for HYROX or a similar event

  • Looking for a full-body conditioning session

  • Just bored of doing the same workout every week

Our Functional Fitness area is used every week for coached classes, including FLEXX HYBRID.

Members can book their place directly through the FLEXX app, making it quick and easy to secure a spot.

Non-members can also book online via the class timetable, so you don’t need to be a full gym member to come and try a session.

Class places are limited, simply because this style of training works best when there is enough space, enough kit, and enough coaching attention for everyone to get the most from it.

So if you see a space available, don’t hang about too long.

The sleds wait for no one.
